A-not-so-secret affection for this building has been present since the first time visiting—now years ago. Though street facing, the intrigue lies within the side of the building that is unseen from the cars and passersby. Tucked around the corner lies a special façade, opening and space… The feeling of a courtyard studio is at hand, present—its wandering vines with plump, deeply toned grapes have traveled the aged bricks over many years, joined by whimsical wisteria and trifle foliage, springing up throughout the year… there are mismatched, at some points, toppling bricks framing the edges of the gardens below, three entrances—one being a large roll up garage door… from that vantage point, enter Interior design and furniture design studio, Untitled, with their latest creation: AMOS.

There is a feeling of belonging outside of the city, or even the country perhaps, that is created within this studio.  The different decisions of the spaces’ inhabitants, as well as the buildings’ owner, with their touches of renovation and restoration over the years have created an intriguing building exterior and interior. Having visited years prior, it was interesting and refreshing to see the many details that Untitled chose to keep within the space; in particular, a charming window or two that had been covered up, and placed with bricks. The walls themselves, with their brick and plaster-like textures, in white, evoke a sense of age and character.

The attunement of the studio is connected not only through the tones that seamlessly flow, creating a wonderful interplay of contrast and depth, but also in the way in which inviting settings to sit and exploration of the pieces that can be purchased have been set. There is a classically delicate, slender olive tree central that gives an instant feeling of life and lightness, and juxtaposes the more bold marble pieces and low, deep caramel leather seating that ground the spaces.

There are notes of preciseness and intentionality felt, of order for certain, but nothing is too precious or austere to create an uncomfortable situation—in fact, the opposite—it passes ones mind that spending an afternoon observing the changing light on a Spring day with a coffee or tea, a book, and most definitely, blank pages of a notebook, to fill with the imagination…
